07 Nov BOOKCITY IS BACK, THE BOOK FESTIVAL IN MILAN

All the events of BookCity 2018 not to be missed

From the 15th to the 18th of November 2018, Milan will assume the role of city of books with BookCity once again. The event, came to its 7th Edition, is a book festival shared by authors, booksellers, publishers and first of all readers, real beating heart of the literary world.

What is BookCity Milano |The project

BookCity Milano is an event promoted by the Culture Department of Milan and the namesake association, that brings together some of the main players of the Milanese publishing world: Fondazione Corriere della Sera, Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori, Fondazione Scuola per Librai Umberto e Elisabetta Mauri. The result of this alliance is a shared project of cultural promotion, with books and reading, irreplaceable pieces of the city’s identity, at its center.

The festival lasts four days, meant for the public but also for schools: not only adults, but also children have to discover books in a new interesting and exciting guise. In fact, BookCity Milano wants to give value reading as a cultural experience, showing that it is not boring or difficult, but absorbing and accessible to everyone.

BookCity What to see| The events not to be missed

BookCity will liven up the whole city this year, not only the city center – favorite playground of the festival – but even the suburbs, especially the areas where the legendary trolleybus 90/91 passes, travelling down the roads which surround the city center. This will become the scenery of the project “Tour of Milan in 90/91 minutes”, which includes readings and stories aboard this symbol of the city.

The guest of honor of BookCity 2018 is the English writer Jonathan Coe who, during the inauguration of the 15th at the Teatro dal Verme, will receive the Seal of the city by the mayor Giuseppe Sala. Instead, Beppe Severgnini will close the festival on the 18th of November at the Teatro Franco Parenti, where he will guide the public across an ironic and emotional voyage in the media world.

There is no shortage of famous names in the dense agenda of BookCity, of course: there will be meetings with renowned writers, such as Erri de Luca, Luis Sepulveda, Simonetta Agnello Hornby, Michele Serra and Helena Janeczek – who has won the Premio Strega this year – or musicians like Levante and Lo Stato Sociale. Many appointments mark this four days of mid – November not only with events linked to books, but also with exhibitions, academic discussions and focus on the publishing industry.

In Milan, opportunities – job, personal growth, culture – are really so many: events and shows follow each other on the calendar, to satisfy everyone’s interests. For this reason too, we believe Milan is the right place to create and grow a business, as we did.
